Catching up with Simo in Vegas

I spent one night in Las Vegas in June and met up with Finks Hall of Famer Matt Simo at his Henderson home. Matt is known as @Vegas_Matty in Sin City and is doing well as the co-founder for a high stakes gambling contest known as Footballcontest.com. The Glen Ellyn native has even been making recent appearances on commercial spots on 670 The Score, usually on Danny Parkins' afternoon show.

Simo lives in Henderson with his wife Jessika and daughter Ella. He's gone Vegas sports crazy as a season ticket holder for the Knights and Raiders. I drove by the Raiders' Allegiant Stadium on the south Strip. It is a huge black flying saucer on the far side of the freeway.

I was in town to see my sister compete in a Mrs. Nevada beauty pageant on the northern outskirts of town. Beforehand, I took Simo's suggestion to see the Mob Museum in Old Vegas. I found it ironic that I traveled all the way to Las Vegas to see the  original brick wall with bullet holes from the St. Valentine's Day massacre, which occurred right here in Chicago on Clark Street.

The highlight of my trip turned out to be on my last stop south of the Strip when I saw the famous "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign before returning to my hotel near the airport. A group of very young girls looking like they were enjoying a bachelorette party were taking pictures in front of the sign. On my way out of the parking lot, two of them flashed their bums at me revealing their G-strings. What happens in Vegas sometimes ends up on Dah Blog.

Week 17: Mafia wins gang war for FB 30

Mafia's Cowboys crush Brawlers for Finks title

CHIGAGO HEIGHTS -- Chicago Heights Mafia and the Dublin Brawlers didn't need Tommy guns, switchblades or brass knuckles to decide Finger Bowl 30. Mafia brought in its Colt-wearing, ropin' Cowboys.

Mafia owner Stan Goff's favorite NFL team featured three Mafia players and they scored 41 Finks points to help Goff extend his league record with his fifth Finks League title. Mafia beat down the Brawlers 53-22 in a Finger Bowl spanning teams from Chicago's South suburbs to the United Kingdom.

WR Lamb DAL scored 15 Finks points with a touchdown and 227 receiving yards to capture Finger Bowl MVP. He becomes the first Finger Bowl MVP from DAL.

Goff's scoring total was his second highest score for a Goff title team. His previously branded Serkus Act won 54-30 in Finger Bowl 21.

Goff's fifth title extended his Finks League total over three-time champions Mike Wilcox and Matt Simo. This is the first Finger Bowl for Goff's Mafia (12-5) brand. His previous four titles under Serkus were in 2017 (FB 24), 2014 (FB 21), 2010 (FB 17) and 2009 (FB 16).

Dah Commish's daughter

Quags asked about my daughter Anna playing for Hinsdale South's varsity girls basketball team. My sophomore guard has been getting some starts since some teammates were out over Thanksgiving weekend and my lock-down defender has been having much more fun than last year. I love the Globetrotter-inspired warmup pants for the Hornets (7-3). Quags suggested I send a picture to Finks Nation.

With the cooperation of promoter Jim O'Boye, I was able to get Anna's team into the Kipp Hoopsfest at 4:15 p.m. Jan. 15 at Benet. Hinsdale South is playing Libertyville.
