Notes from our annual auction

Welcome to our 17th season of Finks League football. We also had our silent-bid auction for the 17th time and every year there is always something of interest. When I came up with the idea to start the league, from the beginning I wanted to come up with a way to avoid the long draft process of everybody in the same room, or some of you by phone. At the time, Matt Simo and my brother Mike were not living in the Chicago area so the auction was the way to go.

I still love it because I think in makes the Finks League different from all other fantasy football leagues. This year there were a puzzling number of bid sheets that lacked depth, thus I believe we have a record number of blank roster spots at QB, RB and PKs.

A few other notes:
  •   The most popular player by far was QB Schaub HOU (pictured right), who had three teams list him as their No. 1 QB choice: Posse, Newt and Serkus.
  •  The most exciting bidding battle was for QB Brees NO, the Super Bowl MVP. Sharks went with $27.23 and Eggers went with $27.02.
  • Everyone would love to have RB C. Johnson TEN on their roster. The Eggers made the highest bid of the draft spending $45.02 to nab Johnson.
Let the games begin. Good luck to you all.
